Aug 02 Attend Milwaukee County Budget Briefing and Complete Balancing Act Tool
August 13th Briefing on Proposed 2020 Milwaukee County Department Budget Requests
The Milwaukee County Budget is vital to funding services for children and adults with disabilities, including mental health needs, and for older adults. The budget helps to fund many important services including transit and paratransit, Disability Services, Housing, Behavioral Health Division, Department on Aging, Sheriff, House of Correction, and youth justice. This will be a tough budget for Milwaukee County – your voice is needed.
- Join us Tuesday, August 13, at 3 PM at IndependenceFirst, 540 S. 1st street for a briefing on the 2020 Milwaukee budget requests. We will hear from County Executive Chris Abele, Budget Director Joe Lamers, MCTS President Daniel Boehm, Department of Health and Human Services leadership, House of Corrections Superintendent Michael Hafeman, and Department on Aging Director Holly Davis. Sheriff Lucas has also been invited. See the briefing flyer for details. The briefing will be followed by a short meeting of the Milwaukee Mental Health Task Force, including a discussion of 2020 County Budget priorities and advocacy strategy. All are welcome.
- To share your input on how best to close the projected $28 million gap in Milwaukee County’s 2020 budget, use the County’s Balancing Act Tool. We strongly encourage you to complete the Balancing Act Tool.
We will continue to keep you posted on the County Budget Process and related public hearings.
