October 31 Training Follow Up

Thank you for participating in our October 31st training, “Services for Milwaukee County Children and Youth with Disabilities and Their Families”, sponsored by Disability Rights Wisconsin (DRW), Milwaukee County Disability Services, and Milwaukee County BHD Children and Young Adults Community Services.

The training was offered as part of DRW’s Project EASSY, Equal Access for Special Needs Services for Youth, an outreach initiative to increase awareness and access to services for Milwaukee African American children with a disability and their families, in response to community needs identified as we provided advocacy assistance for youth and families.

As a follow-up to the training, we are pleased to provide you with links to the DRW Family Guide, Powerpoints, and other materials from the trainings, as well as some additional resources. We hope the training and resource materials will help you support Milwaukee families who have a child with special needs or a disability in connecting to services and supports.

If a family needs advocacy assistance, you can refer them to DRW. DRW provides services to families of children with special needs who are having difficulty receiving the supports and services in their community and at school. Our services can include direct advocacy for the family, training, and public policy advocacy. Families should call our intake specialist at 414-773-4646 for assistance. Click here to read more about DRW advocacy assistance.

We hope you will keep in touch. Disability Rights Wisconsin has a Facebook page. Please “like” us on Facebook and watch for updates.
